From July 1-4, about 550 Korean Presbyterians from 25 churches gathered for spiritual revival and a family retreat hosted by the Atlantic Korean-American Presbytery and the Korean Presbyterian churches in the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic.
It was the first family retreat with the presbytery and synod Korean churches combined; six new churches from the South Atlantic area planned and led the event.
During the event, the presbytery approved the new associate pastor for English ministry at Bethany Presbyterian Church.
The program included a gospel concert and a briefing on pensions as well as fishing, golfing and tennis.
Next year, more churches and people are expected to attend. The Atlantic Korean-American Presbytery will also invite more synod and General Assembly staff members.
Sam Y. Kim is associate executive presbyter and stated clerk for the Atlantic Korean-American Presbytery.
