The Religion Communicators Council has announced that 12 Presbyterian communicators have won a total of eight awards in the annual DeRose-Hinkhouse Awards competition.
The awards will be presented during RCC’s once-every-decade Religion Communicators Congress, April 7-10 in Chicago.
The winners represent the PC(USA)’s Mission Interpretation and Creative Services offices and two publications — Presbyterians Today, the denomination’s general interest magazine, and HORIZONS, the magazine of Presbyterian Women.
The winners:
- Susan Jackson Dowd, Stephanie Morris, Laura Lee, Ashley Meyer, HORIZONS, an Award of Excellence (first place) in “Non-broadcast audio/video” for Joshua: A Journey of Faith.
- Thomas Brown, Creative Services, an Award of Excellence in Social Media for the AllWomen in the Church website.
- Billie Healy, Mission Interpretation, a Certificate of Merit (second place) in “Public Relations Materials” for the 2010 Mission Yearbook for Prayer & Study.
- Eva Stimson, editor of Presbyterians Today, a Certificate of Merit in “Writing” for The Faces of Immigration.
- Shellee Layman, Creative Services, a Certificate of Merit in “Graphic Design, Art and Photography” for the Middle Eastern Presbyterians brochure.
- Carol Johnson, Creative Services, a Certificate of Merit in “Graphic Design, Art and Photography” for the 2010 Mission Yearbook for Prayer & Study.
- Shellee Layman, Creative Services, a Certificate of Merit in “Graphic Design, Art and Photography” for Presbyterians Today, July-August 2009 issue.
- Mark Thomson, Creative Services, a Certificate of Merit in “Graphic Design, Art and Photography” for the One Great Hour of Sharing Leader’s Guide and bulletin inserts.
