The Prophets and the Teachings of Jesus: Holy significance

Haggai 1:6 • You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill.

Matthew 11:18–19 • For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He has a demon.” The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, “Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!”

Some people are never satisfied. No matter what you do, it is never enough.

Jesus knows what this is like and would never do that to you. When you come to him in faithful sincerity, he accepts you with love and grace. In his parable, the elderly woman gave a great gift of two pennies to God (Luke 21:1–4). What the world places little value on, to God it is priceless. So are you.

Lord, may your grace be enough for us. Amen.
