The Prophets and the Birth of Jesus: An everlasting kingdom

Isaiah 9:6 • For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

The prophet Isaiah predicted that the kingdom ushered in by Jesus would be a reign of peace and security.

God’s kingdom is one of loving kinship. As Christians, we dedicate ourselves to a life under the reign of God, living as Christian brothers and sisters. We will live in a world without borders dedicated to the rights of others as children of God. Even as the world rejects the Prince of Peace, we are steadfast in our determination to live in and for his peace.

Lord, during this Lenten season bless us with peace and the willingness to live as brothers and sisters in Christ. Amen.
