The Prophets and the Birth of Jesus: Seeing the signs
Isaiah 7:14 • Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.
The prophet Isaiah predicted the birth of Jesus as a sign to the world. This ordinary birth has extraordinary significance, a message that God has acted.
Sometimes we are looking so hard for evidence of God that we fail to see God’s markers. There are constant signs that God sends our way. Signals that point us in the right direction. Messages that say just what we need to hear. A word of insightful advice in a time of indecision from someone who cares for our well-being. A feeling of spiritual strengthening in a time of trial.
Allow this Lenten season to be a time of discovery of the ways that God speaks specifically to you, communicating God’s love.
Lord, may the signs of your presence become visible through eyes of faith. Amen.
