The Prophets and the Miracles of Jesus: Proof positive

Isaiah 35:5–6 • Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then the lame shall leap like a deer and the tongue of the speechless sing for joy.

Luke 7:22 • And he answered them, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news brought to them.”

John the Baptist was in prison and sent his disciples to ask Jesus if he was the messiah. Jesus gave as proof the miracles he had done.

Have you ever seen a miracle? The real question is “How do you define a miracle?” God is evident for those who believe in the laughter of a newborn baby who was not expected to live; for those who hold on to faith amid life-shattering sorrow and pain; in a pope who inspires atheists to take notice. What have you seen and heard in your life of faith?

Lord, your love is all the proof I need. Amen.
