The Prophets and the Miracles of Jesus: A miracle for the miracle worker
1 Kings 19:7–8 • The angel of the Lord came a second time, touched him, and said, “Get up and eat, otherwise the journey will be too much for you.” He got up, and ate and drank; then he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the mount of God.
Matthew 4:10–11 • Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.’ ” Then the devil left him, and suddenly angels came and waited on him.
Elijah and Jesus needed help: Elijah from King Ahab; Jesus after his temptation by Satan.
There are times when even the one who came to help needs help. There are times in life when we come as a provider but find that we need provision. That’s when God shows up and reveals just how much we need God and each other.
Lord, give me the strength to allow others to help me. Amen.
