지난 화요일, 제70차 유엔 여성지위위원회에 참석한 미국장로교 총회 청년 대표단이 씨시 암스트롱 목사와 함께 점심을 먹었습니다. 유엔 교단 / 교회 센터에서 한 블록 떨어진 튜더 시티 그린스 공원에서 만나 세세 목사에게 몇 가지 질문을 할 수 있는 기회였습니다.

세시 목사는 수학교사에서 미국장로교 제226회 총회 공동의장이 되기까지 하나님께서 어떻게 인도하셨는지, 목회에 입문하게 된 이야기를 들려주며 강연을 시작했다.

청년 그룹에는 대학생, 장로교 유엔 사역 및 공공 정책 선교 사무처 인턴, 청년 자원 봉사자, 신학생 등이 포함됩니다. 20대인 우리 모두는 자신의 미래와 커리어에 대해 큰 고민을 하고 있다고 해도 과언이 아닙니다. 세시 목사가 전임 목회 사역으로 나아가라고 '부르심', '인도하심', '말씀하심'을 여러 차례 언급하자, 우리는 하나님이 우리에게 어떻게 말씀하시는지, 하나님이 우리를 무엇으로 부르시는지 어떻게 알고 들을 수 있는지 물었습니다. 세세 목사는 하나님과 어떻게 청문할 것인지 약속하고, 정기적으로 청문할 수 있는 공간과 시간을 확보하라고 조언했습니다.

청년 그룹에 속한 많은 사람들이 여성이고, 그중 상당수가 목회에 관심이 있는 만큼, 저희는 CeCe 목사에게 흑인 여성으로서의 삶과 목회 경험, 특히 포지셔닝에 관한 질문도 던졌습니다. 세시 목사는 앉으라고 권유할 때에도 일어서는 여성 리더가 되라고 조언하며, 우리의 담대함이 다른 사람들의 담대함에 결정적인 영감을 줄 것이라고 말했습니다.
