Food and Faith Posts

Food and Faith, the blog of the Presbyterian Hunger Program, recently posted a moving essay by Dr. Ellen Davis "A Living Creature: A Biblical Perspective on Land Care and Use," which links our treatment of the land, our industrialized food system, and the Gulf Coast oil spill.  In her introduction, Dr. Davis writes about what we have learned about the earth from the oil spill: "Having watched it bleed for months, we are better able to see that the earth is not a machine, nor is it a convenient repository of useful goods."  Read the blog post on Food and Faith and download the essay in its entirety.

Also recently posted on the Food and Faith blog is an address about Sacred Soil that Dr. Larry Rasmussen gave at the Festival of Faiths in Louisville last month.  His talk was inspiring, and has been posted in its entirety

Thanks to colleagues at the Hunger Program for sharing such thought-provoking reflections.
