Psalm 108
(1) Cántico y salmo de David.
108 (2) Mi corazón está dispuesto, Dios mío,
¡dispuesto a cantarte himnos!
Despierta, alma mía;
2 (3) despierten, arpa y salterio;
¡despertaré al nuevo día!
3 (4) Te alabaré con himnos, Señor,
en medio de pueblos y naciones.
4 (5) Pues tu amor es más grande que los cielos.
¡Tu lealtad alcanza al cielo azul!
5 (6) ¡Dios mío, tú estás por encima del cielo;
tu gloria llena toda la tierra!
6 (7) Sálvanos con tu poder,
para que sean libertados los que amas.
¡Respóndenos!
7 (8) Dios habló desde su santuario:
«¡Con qué alegría dividiré Siquem
y repartiré el valle de Sucot!
8 (9) Galaad y Manasés me pertenecen;
Efraín es el casco que cubre mi cabeza;
Judá es mi bastón de mando;
9 (10) Moab es la palangana en que me lavo;
sobre Edom arrojaré mi sandalia;
¡cantaré victoria sobre los filisteos!»
10 (11) ¿Quién me llevará a la ciudad amurallada?
¿Quién me guiará hasta Edom?
11 (12) Pues tú, oh Dios, nos has rechazado;
¡no sales ya con nuestras tropas!
12 (13) Ayúdanos contra el enemigo,
pues nada vale la ayuda del hombre.
13 (14) Con la ayuda de Dios haremos grandes cosas;
¡él aplastará a nuestros enemigos!

First Reading
Isaiah 51:9-16
9 Awake, awake, put on strength,
O arm of the LORD!
Awake, as in days of old,
the generations of long ago!
Was it not you who cut Rahab in pieces,
who pierced the dragon?
10 Was it not you who dried up the sea,
the waters of the great deep;
who made the depths of the sea a way
for the redeemed to cross over?
11 So the ransomed of the LORD shall return,
and come to Zion with singing;
everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;
they shall obtain joy and gladness,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
12 I, I am he who comforts you;
why then are you afraid of a mere mortal who must die,
a human being who fades like grass?
13 You have forgotten the LORD, your Maker,
who stretched out the heavens
and laid the foundations of the earth.
You fear continually all day long
because of the fury of the oppressor,
who is bent on destruction.
But where is the fury of the oppressor?
14 The oppressed shall speedily be released;
they shall not die and go down to the Pit,
nor shall they lack bread.
15 For I am the LORD your God,
who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar —
the LORD of hosts is his name.
16 I have put my words in your mouth,
and hidden you in the shadow of my hand,
stretching out the heavens
and laying the foundations of the earth,
and saying to Zion, “You are my people.”
Second Reading
Hebrews 11:8-16
8By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to set out for a place that he was to receive as an inheritance; and he set out, not knowing where he was going. 9By faith he stayed for a time in the land he had been promised, as in a foreign land, living in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10For he looked forward to the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God. 11By faith he received power of procreation, even though he was too old — and Sarah herself was barren — because he considered him faithful who had promised. 12Therefore from one person, and this one as good as dead, descendants were born, “as many as the stars of heaven and as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.”
13All of these died in faith without having received the promises, but from a distance they saw and greeted them. They confessed that they were strangers and foreigners on the earth, 14for people who speak in this way make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. 15If they had been thinking of the land that they had left behind, they would have had opportunity to return. 16But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; indeed, he has prepared a city for them.
Gospel Reading
John 7:14-31
14About the middle of the festival Jesus went up into the temple and began to teach. 15The Jews were astonished at it, saying, “How does this man have such learning, when he has never been taught?” 16Then Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine but his who sent me. 17Anyone who resolves to do the will of God will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own. 18Those who speak on their own seek their own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and there is nothing false in him.
19“Did not Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why are you looking for an opportunity to kill me?” 20The crowd answered, “You have a demon! Who is trying to kill you?” 21Jesus answered them, “I performed one work, and all of you are astonished. 22Moses gave you circumcision (it is, of course, not from Moses, but from the patriarchs), and you circumcise a man on the sabbath. 23If a man receives circumcision on the sabbath in order that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because I healed a man’s whole body on the sabbath? 24Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”
25Now some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, “Is not this the man whom they are trying to kill? 26And here he is, speaking openly, but they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Messiah? 27Yet we know where this man is from; but when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.” 28Then Jesus cried out as he was teaching in the temple, “You know me, and you know where I am from. I have not come on my own. But the one who sent me is true, and you do not know him. 29I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.” 30Then they tried to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come. 31Yet many in the crowd believed in him and were saying, “When the Messiah comes, will he do more signs than this man has done?”

Psalm 66
(1a) Del maestro de coro. Salmo, cántico.
66 (1b) Canten a Dios con alegría,
habitantes de toda la tierra;
2 canten himnos a su glorioso nombre;
cántenle gloriosas alabanzas.
3 Díganle a Dios:
«Tus obras son maravillosas.
Por tu gran poder
tus enemigos caen aterrados ante ti;
4 todo el mundo te adora
y canta himnos a tu nombre.»
5 Vengan a ver las obras de Dios,
las maravillas que ha hecho por los hombres:
6 convirtió el mar en tierra seca,
y nuestros antepasados cruzaron el río a pie;
¡alegrémonos en Dios!
7 Con su poder, gobierna para siempre;
vigila su mirada a las naciones,
para que los rebeldes
no se levanten contra él.
8 ¡Naciones, bendigan a nuestro Dios!,
¡hagan resonar himnos de alabanza!
9 Porque nos ha mantenido con vida;
no nos ha dejado caer.
10 Dios nuestro, tú nos has puesto a prueba,
¡nos has purificado como a la plata!
11 Nos has hecho caer en la red;
nos cargaste con un gran peso.
12 Dejaste que un cualquiera nos pisoteara;
hemos pasado a través de agua y fuego,
pero al fin nos has dado respiro.
13 Entraré en tu templo y te ofreceré holocaustos;
así cumpliré mis promesas,
14 las promesas que te hice
cuando me hallaba en peligro.
15 Te presentaré holocaustos de animales engordados;
te ofreceré toros y machos cabríos,
y sacrificios de carneros.
16 ¡Vengan todos ustedes,
los que tienen temor de Dios!
¡Escuchen, que voy a contarles
lo que ha hecho por mí!
17 Con mis labios y mi lengua
lo llamé y lo alabé.
18 Si yo tuviera malos pensamientos,
el Señor no me habría escuchado;
19 ¡pero él me escuchó y atendió mis oraciones!
20 ¡Bendito sea Dios,
que no rechazó mi oración
ni me negó su amor!
Evening Reading 2
Psalm 23
El Señor es mi pastor
(1a) Salmo de David.
23 (1b) El Señor es mi pastor;
nada me falta.
2 En verdes praderas me hace descansar,
a las aguas tranquilas me conduce,
3 me da nuevas fuerzas
y me lleva por caminos rectos,
haciendo honor a su nombre.
4 Aunque pase por el más oscuro de los valles,
no temeré peligro alguno,
porque tú, Señor, estás conmigo;
tu vara y tu bastón me inspiran confianza.
5 Me has preparado un banquete
ante los ojos de mis enemigos;
has vertido perfume en mi cabeza,
y has llenado mi copa a rebosar.
6 Tu bondad y tu amor me acompañan
a lo largo de mis días,
y en tu casa, oh Señor, por siempre viviré.
