Share your Church Earth Care Stories with our summer intern
This summer the Environmental Ministries and Child Advocacy offices are excited to welcome Jocelyn Kirk as a summer intern. Jocelyn will be helping Environmental Ministries in a number of ways, and we are thankful to have her serving as an intern. One of Jocelyn’s tasks this summer is to collect stories from churches that are working on earth care for the Eco-Journey blog. If you have a story that you’d like to share you can email Jocelyn with the written story and pictures. Or, you can set up a time for a phone interview with Jocelyn.
Attend the Presbyterians for Earth Care Conference
Presbyterians for Earth Care (PEC) is a member-based, grassroots, non-profit eco-justice network. PEC is holding its national conference August 31 - September 3, 2011, at Highlands Presbyterian Camp and Retreat Center in Allenspark, Colorado. The theme for 2011 is “God’s Earth: Too Big to Fail? An Eco-Justice Conversation Among Faith, Science and Culture." Learn more about the event on PEC’s website. Register for the conference. Environmental Ministries is helping sponsor the conference, and will be leading workshops at the event.
Join the Environmental Ministries Action Network
Since its launch in May, over 100 people have joined the Environmental Ministries Action Network (EMAN), which is open to anyone who is involved in environmental stewardship in their congregation and/or presbytery. Participants in EMAN will work with their churches and/or presbyteries to care for God’s creation. PC(USA) Environmental Ministries will be in regular communication with EMAN participants to provide them with tools and resources for this work. Participants in EMAN will be eligible to apply for funds to use on environmental stewardship projects in their church or presbytery. Learn more and sign up to join the Environmental Ministries Action Network.
