Climate Change Communication

Over the past year I have often heard the question, "How do I talk to someone who does not believe in climate change in an effective way?"  I've heard this in groups of environmentalists, around the church, and at the dinner table.

Often times stating our biblical call to care for the earth is a good starting place.  It is also important place this call in current climate issues to give it some urgency.  This can be the tricky part.  Recently the Center for Research on Environmental Decisions at Columbia University, released The Psychology of Climate Change CommunicationThis guide is filled with ideas and examples about how to talk about climate change in a way that engages people without numbing them to the idea of climate change.  The report is lengthy, but you can also view the communication principles in brief.
