Christian Principles for a Healthy Body and Spirit

The National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Program has drafted a set of Christian Principles for a Healthy Body and Spirit.  You are invited to endorse these principles online.

The principles are are rooted in the beliefs that we are blessed to be created in God's image and to receive sustenance from God's creation (Genesis 1:26-27).  Because our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 6:19) and we are part of creation, when we care for our bodies we are honoring the Creator.

The Christian Principles for a Healthy Body and Spirit advocate for government policies to make the world a safer and healthier place to live, work, and play in the following areas: Protecting Creation; Healthy Bodies, Healthy Selves; Justice for Vulnerable Populations; and Sustainability.

While our modern world is a polluting God's creation and we are faced with new knowledge of toxins, injustice, and health risks each day, endorsing these principles is a step towards eco-justice and healthier communities.  Endorse the principles and learn more about environmental health from the National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Program.
