Brian Frick is the Associate for Camp and Conferences Ministries with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). He has been involved in camp and conference ministry since high school. For the past ten years, Brian has served as program director of Johnsonburg Center in New Jersey, Westminster Woods in California, and Heartland Center in Missouri.
Camp and conference ministry compliments and partners with other ministry aspects of our church to foster faith development and reflection. As our communities and our church changes, our ministries need to grow and adapt with creative and emergent programming and leadership to meet new realities.
These blogs entries, though varied, are intended to spur thought and conversation around the opportunities and challenges before us.

Well said....
In some sense (and in one big part of my job) I'm called upon to capture the essence of retreat/camp ministry and share it with others in an inspiring way so more may experience the benefits to their life, faith...

More numerous than the stars in the sky...
Looking up in the night sky at Ghost Ranch (yes, this is a real picture I took this week) I can't help but think of God's promise to Abraham. Nothing too profound - but it God's promise really strikes home...

Planting or Pulling?
Question of focus. We are all good at starting something new but horrible at ending it. Our denominational membership is in decline (some might say free fall) and we have focused a lot of energy and resources on helping Presbyteries...

Learning...go with the flow or set out on something new?!
I'm sure we all come to these crossroads sometimes. When what we want to happen (and we know is right!) doesn't fit into the current structure and you're not sure if adjusting it to fit, abandoning the idea, or striking...

Growing up...
It happens. Every time I look at my boys, they are bigger. That doesn't change. They went away for two weeks this summer and when they came back, I swear they were a foot taller! Recently, they had a week...
