About this blog

Brian Frick is the Associate for Camp and Conferences Ministries with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). He has been involved in camp and conference ministry since high school. For the past ten years, Brian has served as program director of Johnsonburg Center in New Jersey, Westminster Woods in California, and Heartland Center in Missouri.

Camp and conference ministry compliments and partners with other ministry aspects of our church to foster faith development and reflection. As our communities and our church changes, our ministries need to grow and adapt with creative and emergent programming and leadership to meet new realities.

These blogs entries, though varied, are intended to spur thought and conversation around the opportunities and challenges before us.

Luke 6 Project - Non-violence in Action, through community - starting at Stony Point

Stony Point is really moving forward with some wonderful Christian community building experiences that will bring people together around the issues shared by Jesus as recorded in the Gospel of Luke!
Much work is still to come and it is not up and running yet, but look for more on this in the near future.
The vision includes Small Groups developed nationwide, gatherings of those groups at Stony Point, and other ways to raise the awareness of the Gospel of peace and n
on-violence in a way that will inspire action.
This is an exciting way for the PC(USA) to live out, empower, and spread an essential aspect of our faith - Love your neighbor as you would love yourself.

Where do you see opportunities to foster non-violent action in our nation?  How can the church lead and model this?  What else is happening?  How can this project feed into, support, and partner with these other elements?
