Brian Frick is the Associate for Camp and Conferences Ministries with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). He has been involved in camp and conference ministry since high school. For the past ten years, Brian has served as program director of Johnsonburg Center in New Jersey, Westminster Woods in California, and Heartland Center in Missouri.
Camp and conference ministry compliments and partners with other ministry aspects of our church to foster faith development and reflection. As our communities and our church changes, our ministries need to grow and adapt with creative and emergent programming and leadership to meet new realities.
These blogs entries, though varied, are intended to spur thought and conversation around the opportunities and challenges before us.

Great Opportunities for Experience, Employment and Vocational Direction
I have not written in a while as the inspiration has not been hitting me but talking with a close friend got me inspired and compelled me to share this opportunity with you.
The PCCCA FOCUS EVENT
An annual offering of the Presbyterian Church Camp and Conference Association, brings leaders in PC(USA) camp and conference ministries, both employers and experienced professionals, together with seekers.
Seekers can be those looking for more information or actually seeking to follow a call into camp and conference ministry. A greatly successful opportunity to stick you foot in and test the water, or jump in and join the ministry.

Camp and conference employment provides a wide array of skills (human resources, faith direction and development, accounting, board interactions, building planning, staff leadership, mentoring, and the list goes on!). Howard Miller, my first employer, once told me "Brian, work at a camp and conference center is one of the last bastions of the "generalist.'" And he was right. I often tell people I know a little about everything...and not a whole lot about anything! All joking aside, working at camp has rounded my education in a way no other job I can think of could while I followed my call to lead others in their faith walk.
