“Passion” by Andrew Weatherly

He has shown strength with his arm;

he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts.

He has brought down the powerful from their thrones,

and lifted up the lowly;

he has filled the hungry with good things,

and sent the rich away empty.

— Luke 1:51–53

When love takes over

When love takes over

victims now sons and daughters,

darkness disappeared,

guardian angels

brought home on this day we’ll never forget;

find some distraction and peace tonight.

When love takes over from heaven above,

where love is born and its power is blossoming

new, we are one nation under God

who oversees the sundial of life.

When love takes over

His light will follow you.

— Andrew Weatherly

What would our communities look like if we allowed love to take over and push aside our hate?

God of heavenly light, shine brightly through our words and actions. Amen.
