There are several exciting upcoming faith and environment events coming up in the next few months.

Stewardship of the Land: A Christian Community Gathering will take place on May 21-23 at Bluestone Camp and Retreat near Hinton, WV.  This weekend retreat will feature include workshops, discussions, outdoor activities, and worship that will inspire us to act as stewards of the land.  At the event we will also commission young adults in the Eco-Stewards Program, who will have just completed a week-long training on ecological stewardship principles and practices in West Virginia. Joel Salatin of Polyface Farms, a sustainable  farmer who was featured in The Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan and the recent documentary Food Inc.,will serve as the keynote speaker.  Read an interview with Joel Salatin in the Spring 2010 Heifer International Magazine, World Ark.  Learn more and register for Stewardship of the Land.

The Presbyterian Hunger Program is sponsoring  Heaven on Earth Agrarian Road Trip (HEART), an 8-state road trip to the US Social Forum. Participants will make stops along the way to visit with congregations and community groups who are participating in the grassroots sustainable and just food revolution that is sprouting up everywhere.  The event will take place on June 13-26, and will culminate with participation in the U.S. Social Forum.  For more information and to apply, visit the Presbyterian Hunger Program's website. 

The World Student Christian Federation - North American Regionwill host an Eco-Justice Conference: "Let There be Life? Christian Activism, Social Justice, and the Future of the Earth" on June 10-13 in Ottawa, Canada.   Download theConference Flyer for more information.
