My Boat Is So Small: Creating a Harbor of Hope and Health Care for All Children — National Observance of Children’s Sabbaths® Manual, Vol. 16. Now is the time to begin preparations for the 2007 observance of Children’s Sabbath. With the help of the Pentecost Offering, the Office of Child Advocacy is offering Presbyterian congregations a copy of the manual free of charge.

Curriculum
Life Together Music Resources
Beginning in the fall of 2007, every quarter of children’s curriculum for We Believe will include songs to be found in the Life Songs Songbook or on one of two Life Songs CDs. A simple melody line and the words to the songs are printed in the Life Songs Songbook. The Life Songs Leader Book includes a full piano score and guitar chords for each song. The CDs provide both a recording with voices and one that is purely instrumental. As the Songbook points out, “To sing of faith is to sing of the life that is God’s gift.” Certainly we hope that churches will find these resources to be a gift that they and their children will enjoy for years to come. There are four pieces to this curriculum that are included: LifeSongs Leader Book, LifeSongs Songbook, LifeSongs CD Vol. 1 (Ages 3 to 6) and LifeSongs CD Vol. 2 (Ages 7 and up).

Many of you have asked not to receive the resource kits, since they do not seem to change all that much and pile up on your shelves. If you need this resource, just let me know.

Tokens of Trust: An Introduction to Christian Belief, by Rowan Williams. Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams uses classic statements of the Nicene and Apostles’ Creeds to guide readers through central elements of Christian faith. Questions such as: What does it mean to believe in God? Can God possibly be almighty in the midst of so much evil and disaster? What does it really mean to follow Christ in today’s broken world? Williams demonstrates that each of the basic tenets of Christian faith flows from the fundamental belief that God is worthy of our trust.

Theology
Exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the World, by Darrell L. Guder. The Great Ends of the Church represent a brief statement of principles found in the Book of Order. Exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the World is the fifth in the Great Ends of the Church series of books published by Congregational Ministries Publishing (but detailing the sixth Great End). Guder envisions the sixth Great End, the exhibition of the kingdom of heaven to the world, as the end or goal of the others, but not in the sense of a finished goal. The exhibition of the kingdom of heaven is a gift of grace that flows through our hearts and souls to reach out to the world — manifesting Christ’s presence to the world.
