Shannon ended her term of service as a long-term volunteer in April 2008.

Shannon was appointed as a long-term volunteer in October 2006 to serve as Webmaster and an information technology specialist in the Sabeel Liberation Theology Center in Jerusalem.

This appointment isn’t her first with the PC(USA). She served as a Young Adult Volunteer in Thailand from August 2004 to July 2005. Her first assignment as a YAV was teaching at the Aroonpradit School, an elementary school run by the Christian Church in Thailand in the northern Thai city of Petchaburi. Later in the year, Shannon was asked to help the CCT’s Office of Education Ministry to recruit native English teachers from overseas to teach in CCT schools.

Shannon grew up in the Church of the Nazarene in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, but after her year as a YAV she enthusiastically joined the PC(USA).

“I don’t know if I adopted this church, or if it first adopted me," she writes, "but the things I want for it are similar to what a parent would want for their child. I want this church to grow, to thrive, and to reach its full potential. Isn’t this also what Christ wants for his children, for his church? God has given us a hope, a future, and a vision. We just have to ask God for eyes to see it. I envision a future of growth, of unity and solidarity for the church. Of course, it won’t happen overnight. But I believe God will make it happen! We just have to have faith and commit to work together.”

Throughout her college years Shannon was active in mission service, having been on mission trips to Chile and West Virginia and in a multi-cultural student exchange program in Los Angeles, California.
Shannon is a member of Beechmont Presbyterian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Birthday: June 18
