Open Source

Open Source is a library of workshop presentations on many pressing local and global issues related to hunger and poverty. We hope they will be useful resources as you and others in your congregation and community seek understanding and ways to act. They may be freely adapted, but please retain credits when noted.

Presentation notes

  • You don’t always need a projector for using PowerPoints, and it is often good to plan for technological glitches (like forgetting the projector or laptop).
  • You can print the slides as a handout (in the Print window, you will be given options for what to print — choose “Handouts.” Six slides to a page works well if your text is large enough and this document can be a good “take home” for participants’ future reference.
  • You can make color transparencies from the slides to use with an overhead projector (remember those?).
  • Or, with a small group of under 12 or so, you can view them on the computer or laptop.

If you don’t have PowerPoint software on your computer, you won’t be able to modify the presentations, but you can view and show them with a downloadable PowerPoint viewer.

Living Wage

Living Wage Workshop Resources

The following are resources that will enable you to lead a workshop or Bible study session on Living Wage vs. Death Wage even if you aren't an expert on the issues. The materials were updated in Jan. 2005.

Living Wage Workshop Outline Word icon
The outline suggests just one way to hold a study session. The outline is intended for an average group. With a group that knows the issues and wants to educate others, you can frame the workshop into one that gives them the tools to hold their own workshops. Some groups may be most interested in action, and you can go quickly through initial steps and save time for discussion about avenues for action.
